Industry Academia Research Collaboration (IARC) Workshop

The broad goal of the IARC workshop is for practitioners from the information systems (IS) industry and IS academic scholars to meet and understand each other’s work and identify areas for collaboration in research. Though both groups, practitioners, and academics, have synergies, IS conferences traditionally have not enabled a forum for them to interact, learn from each other, and gain insights. This workshop aims at initiating this interaction through research panel discussion, presentations, and round table discussions.

Specific takeaways from the workshop

  • Insights from leading industry experts and academic scholars on the scope of research collaboration.
  • Policy, value proposition, and practical implications for both academic researchers and practitioners on IT/IS products and services.
  • Awareness of both groups about current activities and trends.
  • Dialogue on potential research collaboration on problems that have value proposition for IS industry.

Session 1

The first session will be a panel discussion on Value Co-creation in Industry Academia Research Collaboration in Information Systems. Research collaborations between industry and academia can benefit both sides. These collaborations can become effective and sustainable when both sides are engaged in a value co-creation process, where industry and academia actively participate in problem definition and solving, aiming to develop solutions that are relevant for all participating parties.

The second session will involve research presentations on industry-related research. The presentations will include the following papers:

    • “Organizational Learning in the AI Era” by Neena Pandey (IIM Visakhapatnam), Sangita Garg (TCS), Ravi Mahamuni (TCS), and Raju Goteti (TCS)
    • “Towards a Model of Trust in Public Digital Platforms,” by Himanshu Warudkar (HSBC) and Arvind Gupta (Digital India Foundation)
    • “Leveraging Digital Ecosystems for Democratized Education: A Service Design Perspective on Homeschooling in India, Ravi Mahamuni (TCS), Bhaskarjyoti Das (TCS), and Sylvan Lobo (TCS)

Both sessions will be held at the Pagoda/Plum Blossom, 4th Floor, Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park
