Pre ICIS Workshop 2024 by the Thailand Chapter

 

Harmonizing Horizons: Glocalization of IS in Thailand and Southeast Asia

Hosting ICIS in 2024 marks a historic occasion as it’s the first time this prestigious event will be held in Southeast Asia in its 44-year history. This presents Thailand with a unique opportunity to showcase its vibrant research community and contribute significantly to the global discourse on information systems. Therefore, your support for our Pre ICIS-2024 Workshop, organized by the Thailand Chapter of the Association of Information Systems (THAIS), is crucial for ensuring its success.

Pre ICIS-2024 Workshop Details:

  • Date and Time: December 14, 2024, from 9.30 AM to 3.30 PM
  • Format: Two sessions structured as panel discussions followed by a networking opportunity
  • Aim: To foster impactful discussions and collaboration opportunities of IS research in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Participants include IS researchers, and leaders from governments and private sectors. Participants can explore further research and collaboration with Thai policy makers, high profile leaders from the tech sector, and researchers from around the world.

This workshop is sponsored by the tech companies and endorsed by policy makers in Thailand.

Session 1: “Generative AI: A Risky Promise?”

This session convenes leaders from academia, government, and the private sector to offer diverse perspectives on generative AI and its societal implications. It aims to illuminate the future trajectory of generative AI in Thailand and Southeast Asia, highlighting current trends, anticipated demands, and potential collaboration opportunities in research, funding, and consulting projects related to generative AI.

Session 2: “Digital Transformation: Building Digital Capabilities”

Focused on the global demand for digital capability development within digital transformation, this session explores essential skills needed in our rapidly evolving digital society. Participants from academia, organizations, and government will discuss the future trajectory of digital transformation, its impacts on society, education, work, and lifestyles, with a specific focus on Thailand and Southeast Asia. Key topics include anticipated digital skills for global competitiveness, evaluation of current efforts, and the roles of government, private sector, and educational institutions in facilitating digital skill development.
